At the core of its organization, Soroptimist International of the Pahrump Valley has one main goal, improving the lives of women and girls and the local group has just started a new initiative that truly resonates with this purpose.

Horses at the Nevada State Junior/High School Rodeo that took place Feb. 22-24 in Pahrump may have been exposed to equine herpes virus type 1 and should be monitored for signs of disease, such as fever, cough or runny nose. The Nye County Valor Quilters are on a mission to cover as many military service members and veterans in comforting, healing Quilts of Valor as they can and the group recently added another 28 to their tally following a recent presentation ceremony.
It’s that time of year again when chili aficionados are preparing to bring their “A” game in the hopes of scoring top prizes at the International Chili Society’s seventh annual Silver State Chili Cook-off and residents and tourists will not want to miss out.
It was a busy and bustling day for many in the Pahrump community during the 3rd Annual Veterans Extravaganza, an event geared toward providing an all-encompassing information outlet for former U.S. military service members.
It was a long time coming but Pahrump Valley Public Transportation is now well established and rolling, with organization officials and members of the public celebrating the anniversary of the first year of full operations on Saturday, March 2.
The weather may have been gloomy on Saturday, March 2 but the atmosphere inside the NyE Communities Coalition Activities Center was anything but as valley residents enjoyed an evening of fundraising festivities at the 8th Annual CASA Crab Fest.

P3 Medical Group expanded over the hump to Pahrump in October of last year, bringing to the valley a whole new option for medical care for area residents. The inclusion of this area in the P3 network also brought with it another new health care option for valley seniors, with Senior Care Plus now offering its Medicare Advantage plans to Pahrump as well.
“I’ve always felt that Beatty has never lived up to its potential,” businessman Ed Ringle told the Beatty Town Advisory Board Feb. 25. He then shared his vision of what he believes the town could be and what he plans to do to make it happen.
