Mike and Maria, Reeves boys and a SAF dinner run

It’s going to be a whirlwind weekend with all of the last-minute festivities taking place before the holidays.

Maria and Mike Rivera will perform from 8 p.m. to midnight tonight at the Coyote’s Den on Kellogg Road. The bar has begun scheduling live music for Friday nights with karaoke on Saturdays.

Although Cole Reeves is a Pahrump resident these days, and is normally on stage at the Maverick Saloon &Dance Hall, he will be joined by dad, Jack, and brother, Matt, tonight and tomorrow night. There is a cost involved when all the Reeves boys are together. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. The show starts at 8 p.m. both nights.

Symphony Animal Foundation is hosting a fundraiser beginning at 11 a.m. Nov. 9. This will be the second annual Symphony in Motion Dinner Run and it works like a progressive dinner party.

This will be a 68-mile trip for diners who will meet and register beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sanders Family Winery. Sanders will host a wine tasting and have the appetizers. The winery is also where participants will find out where they are going.

SAF Founder Laraine Harper said, “We’re not telling!” She did however disclose the menu. The second course will be either shrimp or lobster bisque followed by a stop for a salad buffet. Diners will go for pizza, pasta and homemade meatloaf before ending the run with molten chocolate lava cake.

Pahrump Valley Winery has donated one of its beautiful wine baskets as a raffle prize and Harper said tickets will be available at the dessert stop.

The event is $30 per person and $50 for a couple, which includes dinner and a T-shirt.

The proceeds will be used for fencing for the shelter on Wheeler Pass Road.

The poetry and coffee group will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, in Off 160 Coffee House for open mike and readings from the great poets. The address is 1330 S. Highway 160 in Beverly Plaza.

It’s Toys for Tots time and the Marine Corps League will benefit from raffle proceeds at the Home for the Holidays Craft and Gift Show scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Nov. 9 in the Bob Ruud Community Center. Admission is free. It’s an opportunity to get some shopping done and donate to a great cause.

NyE Communities Coalition will host the third Movie Lover’s Night Out in the NyECC multi-purpose room. The doors open at 5 p.m. tonight and the short films begin at 6:30 p.m. The theme of the movies will be Friends &Others. There will be plenty of time to have dinner provided by the Campus Cafe.

After the films, the youth Cabaret opens at 8 p.m. Attendees must be at least 14.

Tickets are $3 for the movies and $6 will admit a family. No outside beverages or food is permitted. Snacks, drinks and other items are available for purchase. The event is alcohol, tobacco and drug free.

The Pahrump Valley Museum will host its final lecture for 2013 at 1 p.m. tomorrow at the museum. Dora McKeever, an interpretive park ranger for the Mojave National Preserve, will be the guest speaker.

The museum, 401 E. Basin Ave., has been successful with its lecture series, which will begin again in January.
