The Tommy Thompson Project at Sanders Winery

Even with temperatures climbing, the entertainment options feature an outdoor performance again this weekend.

Saturday, June 22 will be Jazz & Blues Night at Sanders Family Winery on Kellogg Road.

The show will feature the Tommy Thompson Project with blues vocalist Jeannie Snow.

Band leader Tommy Thompson is a stellar saxophonist. One of his claims to stage fame is to hold the note. Thompson learned the art of circular breathing which allows him to extend a single musical note indefinitely if he wishes.

The group plays a variety of styles and will accompany Jeannie Snow. Her voice can be soft for ballads but she can really “belt out” the blues.

The band and Snow can transform from smooth jazz to Latin and the Bosa Nova. They even perform rock and roll.

Gates open at 6 p.m. for wine tasting and the show begins at dusk. Tickets are $15 per person.

Those attending are invited to pack a picnic or snacks.

Call 727-1776 to reserve tickets.

• The Miss Pahrump Pageant is also scheduled for Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. in the Saddle West showroom.

Eleven young women ranging in age from 13 to 17 will compete in talent, a photogenic category, the interview and modeling casual wear.

The winner will have the opportunity to work on her platform project and represent the town.

Tickets are $10 at the door or you can get them in advance at the Best Western front desk.

Patrons are asked to be in their seats by 6:15 p.m.

• A fundraiser to benefit Meals on Wheels is scheduled for Saturday as well.

Inspirations Senior Living, Comfort Hospice Care, Nathan Adelson Hospice and Desert View Hospital have organized a “Calypso Night” from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the senior living facility on Java Avenue.

The event will feature island music, appetizers and beverages of the islands and entertainment from the Ms. Senior Golden Years Queens Court.

There will be raffles and a live auction as well.

Tickets are $25 per person and can be purchased by calling Tonya Brum, 702-845-4748.

Seating is limited.

• The Pahrump Arts Council is presenting “Eye of the Beholder II” in October. The sitting for the still life will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 22 at the Pahrump Community Library.

The principal is for every artist who participates to render a version of the same still life, knowing each perception will be different.

Everyone is invited to paint, draw, take reference photographs, make sketches and create art.

The show will be hung at the Nye County Courthouse Gallery. Each artist is limited to two pieces and the artwork should be framed and ready to hang for the show, which will run from Oct. 11 through Dec. 27.

• The Liberty Festival is scheduled for July fourth at Petrack Park.

The event, sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, will have vendor booths and spaces are still available.

Those interested should contact Elaine Trent at 727-5800 or go online to pahrumpchamber.com and download an application.

• The Independence Day Parade, sponsored each year by the VFW, is scheduled for July 4, at 9 a.m.

To have an entry in the parade, call Butch Borasky at 209-3100 or Dan Schinhofen at 537-2562.

The event will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a $3 pancake breakfast in the Calvada Eye. Breakfast will be available until 8:30 a.m.

All proceeds benefit the VFW.

Have a great weekend!
