The Sanders Family Winery is holding a variety show on Friday, June 26 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Comedian, impressionist, and jazz singer Kellie Wright; Rusty Davis as Wayne Newton; and jazz pianist Uli Geissendoerfer will be performing. The Pahrump Elks Lodge will host a donation spaghetti dinner with all the proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project. This week’s Movies in the Park feature is “Dolphin Tale 2,” the 2014 family drama film focusing on Winter, the miracle amputee dolphin as a new crisis arises threatening Winter’s life once again. The event starts at around 6 p.m. at Ian Deutch Memorial Park on Honeysuckle Street. Admission is free and concession stands will be open.

The Pahrump Amateur Radio Repeater Association will be participating in a nationwide emergency communications exercise starting at 10 a.m. until early evening at the Calvada Eye. Radio amateurs will take to the field with emergency power sources and communication equipment to practice and demonstrate their capabilities during regional and local catastrophes. GALLERY: How Pahrump marked Juneteenth

Several members of the community met at the Black Cow’s open-mic session on Wednesday evening, followed by a candlelight vigil at the corner of Highway 160 and Basin Avenue in the Petrack Park parking lot. Hymns and songs of freedom were sung by the group to mark Juneteenth in Pahrump for the fourth year since President Joe Biden signed the nation’s newest holiday into law in 2021.

95-year-old grand marshal shares the secret to his longevity

More than 40 friends and family celebrated Emil Janssen’s 95th birthday on Saturday, June 8 at the Pahrump Senior Center. The co-founder of Pahrump Family Mortuary will serve as grand marshal for this year’s Fourth of July parade in Pahrump, and says the secret to his longevity is simple.
