Car fire doused before it could spread

Firefighters were able to stop a vehicle fire this week before it touched off an even bigger blaze after it reportedly caught fire in-between a residence and carport on the owner’s property.

Pahrump Valley Fire Rescue Services were reportedly called to a home near the intersection of Blagg and Country Place roads shortly after 10 a.m. on Monday for a report of a vehicle fire.

When first responders arrived at the address, Fire Chief Scott Lewis said they found a fully-involved vehicle fire situated in-between the property’s residence and carport.

Crews on scene were able to work quickly to put the fire out, preventing it from spreading to the nearby structures.

Lewis said once the fire was extinguished, the car appeared to be heavily damaged from the flames.

The owner’s home, however, suffered only slight smoke conditions, which were remedied after the owner was able to open the residence’s windows and doors to allow a cross-draft in to clear it out.

There were no injuries to report from the incident.

Based on a brief investigation of the fire, Lewis said it appeared to be accidental in nature after several trash bags in the vicinity of the vehicle caught fire.
