Thursday: Hazy conditions; high near 99 degrees

Thursday Pahrump will see widespread haze, with otherwise sunny conditions. A high temperature near 99 degrees is expected. South southwest wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

The advisory the Clark County Department of Air Quality issued Wednesday for potentially elevated levels of ozone and smoke due to multiple wildfires burning in Southern California is still in place today.

With similar air conditions in Pahrump, residents should take same precautions as Clark. Officials say smoke is made of small dust particles and other pollutants that can aggravate respiratory diseases and contribute to ground-level ozone formation. People who may be most sensitive to elevated levels of ozone and fine particles include individuals with respiratory problems, cardiac disease, young children or senior citizens.

Tonight the haze will linger around until 11 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 73 degrees. South-southwest wind 9 to 15 mph becoming southeast after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.
