Baseball: Trojans blast Western in conference opener

Trojans boys baseball blasted Western in their league opener on Tuesday, 12-1.

Pahrump (3-4 overall, 1-0 Sunset League) won it on the excellent pitching of Josh Ferrer, who went the distance and had 13 strikeouts and just two walks.

Shelton Cajudoy slugged his second home run of the year and had two hits. Josh Ferrer and Garret Lucas both hit doubles.

The Trojans will dedicate the field to their first Pahrump baseball coach, Rod Poteete, on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Division IV baseball score: The Round Mountain Knights opened up their baseball season at the Cougar Classic last Friday and Saturday.

Round Mountain went 2-2 over the weekend beating White Pine 10-3, Sandy Valley 10-0 and losing to Laughlin 5-3 and Wells 10-0.

The Knights coach is confident his team will have no problem in league. The team returns pitchers Walker Woodward and Chris Winters.
