Pahrump Valley opens league play Friday against a winless Virgin Valley team that has beaten the Trojans three straight years. Both coaches built demanding nonleague schedules to prepare for this moment.

Pahrump Valley played Equipo Academy to a scoreless draw Sept. 17, extending its unbeaten stretch to three matches while continuing to seek its first league victory.

There is more to the dove and bird hunt than pulling the trigger.

Sophomore quarterback Wyatt Cross directed the offense, Angel Ware delivered back-to-back scoring plays for Pahrump, and relentless defensive pressure helped the Trojans pull away from Valley in a 64–26 road victory.

Neither Tristan nor Brendan Torres had tennis experience before this season. Now the baseball-playing brothers share Pahrump Valley’s top boys doubles position, dividing the court by their strengths and occasionally assigning each other the blame.

Pahrump Valley visits the Valley Vikings Friday, with coach Toby Henry confident that a demanding early schedule is preparing his players for league competition.

Pahrump Valley’s players helped spark a second-half improvement in a 3-2 win over Somerset Academy Losee. Paola Aguilar scored twice, but missed close-range chances showed where the Trojans still need work.

Mary Star scored 35 second-quarter points to pull away from Pahrump Valley in the Cali Classic, where the Trojans struggled up front and surrendered big plays.

Pahrump Valley went 4-5 across nine matches in seven days, including a 3-4 tournament showing and a league sweep of DPAC Nevada.
