Trojans run away from Adelson 14-0

The Lady Trojans were on the road Wednesday for a soccer game against the Adelson Lions for the second and last meeting of the year. The Trojans ran away with the game 14-0.

Sydney Sladek scored 8 points. She now has 40 goals on the season with 15 assists. The win gives Pahrump nine wins and two ties on the season. Trojans coach Pam Larmouth admitted she wants to get Sladek’s state record for most career goals up there. Sladek broke the state record two weeks ago with 157, so she has been allowed to score numerous points to build on her own record.

The Trojans scored 7 in the first half and 7 in the shortened second half. The game was called in the second half just 15 minutes in.

The Trojans were down four players and had to bring in three junior varsity players. Lexi Smith and Gabby Vasquez will both be out with injuries probably until the next Faith Lutheran game. Adelson said they too, were missing players to injuries.

Despite the loss of players, Larmouth’s team scored a lot of points. The coach said she wanted all of her team to score.

“We had every team player take a turn up top to score. Some did and some didn’t. It is always difficult, the other team is trying,” she said.

Larmouth is trying to keep the intensity level of the team high, but finds it difficult when playing teams like the Lions.

“There just isn’t any competition there, so we generally don’t look forward to this game. It was cold and rainy and the girls went into the game thinking if we scored 11 in the first half we could go home. It is difficult to score when there are 11 players in front of the goal, which seemed to be their strategy. This type of game does not benefit us in any way. It would be better to scrimmage the JV or just stay home and practice. We admire Adelson for being there and getting better. They have a new coach and she is doing better with them,” Larmouth said.

The Trojans are home this Thursday against Cheyenne at 3 p.m. Both Faith Lutheran and Pahrump are tied in league play at 6-0-1. Cheyenne is in second place at 5-2.

Pahrump Stats: Ashlyn DiBlasi: 1 assist, 2 goals; Brittany Klenczar: 2 assists; Courtney Lindsey: 1 goal; Rosa Ortega: 1 assists; Sydney Sladek: 1 assist, 8 goals; Alyssa Turner: 1 assist, 1 goal; Sabrina Lunetto: 1 goal; Maddy Pereira: 1 assist, 1 goal.
