Volleyball: Hearn leads Trojans past Del Sol

Senior Koral Hearn’s 6 kills led the Trojans over Del Sol 3-0 last Friday night as Pahrump hosted the Dragons in volleyball in non-conference action.

In addition to her kills, Hearn also served up 10 aces against Del Sol (1-1 overall Sunrise League).

The Trojans (2-6 overall, Sunset League) won 25-13, 25-9 and 25- 21 with little trouble. Hearn was aided by junior Marietta Sobeck and senior Alexis Trieb, who had 4 kills.

Trojans coach Jill Harris took the game day off for Labor Day and said the coaching was done by her assistant, Susan Toomer.

“Susan and Tasi covered for me that evening,” the coach said. “From what Susan told me, it was a fairly easy match. She told me Koral Hearn looked really good as she is now playing all the way around in the rotation. Jackie Stobbe had a good night at setting.”

Harris believes her girls are ready for the regular season. The Trojans compete in Class 3A in the Sunset League.

“We are ready for conference play,” she said. “However, most of it won’t really start until after the Boulder City tournament. We still need to focus our attention on serve-receive. Serve-receive I think will make or break our season.”

The Trojans travel to Moapa Valley today for a 5 p.m. game time and then are at the Boulder City Tournament on Sept. 16th and 17th.
