A memorial service for local community leader Cassandra Selbach is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Pahrump Nugget. The doors will open at noon.

In the town of Pahrump, there are many and varied community-wide needs but which is the greatest? That is just the focus of a new effort by five local nonprofit organizations, which are banding together to determine projects they can collaboratively work on to better the place they all call home.

Local community leader Cassandra Selbach is being remembered for the legacy of helping others. The executive vice president of community relations at Valley Electric Association and mother of two died on Jan. 23 of a systemic autoimmune disease.
High school rodeo will return to Pahrump on Feb. 22-24 at McCullough Arena, and tickets will be available Saturday.

A new team of high school students will be crowned champions of the 28th annual Nevada Science Bowl competition Saturday, Feb. 2, an event featuring competitors from Pahrump Valley High School.
A longtime member of the Pahrump community, and one of the driving forces behind the development of the valley, Hollis Harris passed away earlier this month at age 87. He was well-known and well-loved by many and his son, Dan Harris, said his father will be greatly missed.
