Desert View Hospital celebrating 10-year anniversary

Desert View Hospital is ready to celebrate a major milestone and the community is invited to join the party.

The hospital, located at 360 S. Lola Lane, will celebrate its 10th anniversary today with an open house from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

There will be cake and ice cream served, along with tours of the facility, including the hospital’s radiology department.

“It is with great pride that I announce the celebration of Desert View Hospital’s tenth year of providing outstanding services to the community,” said Michelle Hinds, marketing director for DVH. “We owe much gratitude to the community for our success and strive to continually make major improvements to the capabilities and health services we provide. We encourage the residents of our community to help us commemorate this milestone in our history.”

After the town of Pahrump grew tremendously in the 1990s, it became increasingly evident that a medical facility with urgent care was a necessity for the valley going forward.

After almost 10 years of planning, the medical facility, then named Desert View Regional Medical Center, opened its doors in April 2006, and the hospital has been providing the Pahrump Valley with full-service hospital care 24 hours a day, seven days a week ever since.

A year after opening, the facility was renamed to its current namesake, Desert View Hospital.

The hospital has continued to bulk its staff up with qualified doctors that possess progressive skill sets, along with updating and adding new equipment, such as the 128-slice CT scanner introduced last year. A recent addition to the staff was the appointing of a new chief of staff at Desert View.

“DVH feels extremely proud to have Dr. John Sorenson, a world-class surgeon, as our chief of staff,” Hinds said. “These are amazing accomplishments for a rural hospital of our size. The folks of the community are encouraged to come over and celebrate.”
