Nye County School District officials to host Back to School Rally

As the start of the new school year is roughly a week out, Nye County School District officials are hosting a Back to School Rally on Monday at Pahrump Valley High School.

The event is for all grade levels in the Pahrump attendance area.

School district trustee Pamela Hiler said the rally will include student performances, giveaways, games, and more, from 6:30-to-8:30 p.m.

The first day of the 2016 school year is August 8.

“This is our second annual Back to School Rally so we are hoping it’ll be a little bigger than last year,” she said. “One of the participants said they are going to provide water and chips, so there will be light snacks on hand for everyone to enjoy.”

As faculty and administrators at their respective campuses begin preparing for the first day of the fall semester, Hiler said schools in the northern attendance area are formulating their own programs for the return of classes.

“Things are going great and we are looking forward to a wonderful year,” she said. “We have a new textbook adoption program along with a few other things coming along. We leave it to the schools up north to do what they would like in regard of back-to-school activities. Monday’s event is for all grade levels in the Pahrump attendance area.”

Nye County School District students only have to wait just nine months until summer break arrives on May 18, 2017.
