In an effort to prepare valley residents for the pending influx of its new Internet option in town, Valley Electric Association Inc. will host a series of events aimed at educating prospective customers on the new service.
VEA is hosting two workshops next week that will explain the benefits and features of the wireless broadband service that is being rolled out in Pahrump.
The all-day workshops will start at 9 a.m., Tuesday at Nevada Treasure RV Resort, and 9 a.m., Thursday at the Pahrump Nugget Hotel and Casino.
VEA managers and technicians will be on hand to answer questions and explain how consumers can take full advantage of the the 25mb broadband once their homes or businesses are connected.
The service is made possible by 12 hot spots that cover the majority of town, sending its signal to customers utilizing flat antennas in their homes. Once the fiber-optic build-out is complete later this year, all wireless subscribers have to do it plug their fiber-optic service in and their Internet speed will double to 50mb for the same $49.95 price as their 25mb wireless package.
The meetings are a time to gather more information on getting connected, to view the equipment involved with the service and to talk to one of the many members of the Valley VEEK Squad.
Nearly 4,000 VEA member-owners have already signed up for high-speed broadband, and the co-op said it appreciates everyone’s patience as they work to get all homes and businesses connected in a timely manner.
