Beatty runs wild on Beaver Dam

The Hornets trashed Beaver Dam 58-0 behind the running of senior running back Michael Olson, who ran for 189 yards.

Beaver Dam was never in the game. Beatty (4-0 overall, 2-0 Class 1A Southern) was ahead 44-0 at the half. Olson had three TDs.

Hugo Mendoza added 88 yards to the rushing category and scored two TDs.

Jacob Henry threw one pass to Jacob Oseguera for 10 yards.

Hornets coach Leo Verzilli said the game went smoothly.

“We played our younger kids in the second half and they all stepped up and did a good job both off and on the defensive side of the ball,” the coach said. “Two starters on defense were unable to play so Hugo Mendoza played nose and Robby Revert filled in at linebacker and they both had a great game.”

The team will travel to Sandy Valley (1-1), who usually has a good team, this week.

“They run a deceptive offense so we will work on gap responsibility and key recognition this week,” Verzilli said.
