Nye County Commissioners receive second round of block grant project idea presentations

At their latest meeting, Nye County commissioners received a second presentation from applicants hoping to get in on the Community Development Block Grant funding made available for fiscal year 2022 and three separate ideas were put on the table by two different entities, including a couple of projects for town of Amargosa beautification and a third from the nonprofit Faith For Action aimed at tackling the local homelessness issue.

Nye County finance to hire two new staff members

With Nye County still in the midst of administering its CARES Act and COVID Relief Program grant programs and another round of several million dollars in relief funding coming from the American Rescue Plan Act, or ARPA, the Nye County Finance Department is now seeking to hire two new grants financial analysts in the coming weeks to help bear the immense workload associated with overseeing those funds.

Pahrump Fall Festival to open with a bang

The Pahrump Fall Festival is less than two weeks away and after having to cancel in 2020, event organizers are striving to make the return of the festival a total blast for the entire community. As such, town and county officials have been working hard to bring together all of the traditional elements of the Fall Festival while also incorporating several new features, one of which is set to kick off the festival with a bang.

It has been nearly 20 years to the day since the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil rocked the nation, taking the lives of nearly 3,000 people, and though two decades have passed, the horror and tragedy of those events has not been eased by time.
