Enrollment through state exchange up
The number of consumers enrolled in health insurance through the state exchange has continued to grow.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported Wednesday that 56,421 Nevadans had signed up for a plan through healthcare.gov as of Jan. 30. That number included 38,610 Las Vegans.
The statewide number was up about 18 percent from 47,784 enrollees on Jan. 9.
The federal government does not offer a breakdown of how many enrollees are new versus re-enrolling in a plan they bought in the first sign-up session a year ago. The first enrollment session drew about 36,000 people statewide. The current sign-up period ends Feb. 15.
Purchasing coverage through the exchange is the only way consumers who qualify for a tax credit based on income can get the subsidy.
To enroll, visit nevadahealthlink.com or visit the Nevada Health Link enrollment store inside The Boulevard, at 3528 Maryland Parkway. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
