Warm-up on the way
After a cold snap in the area saw high temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s and lows dipping into the upper 20s, Pahrump is in the midst of a warming trend.
Temperatures will top out in the 60s for at least the next five days, with today's forecast to be 60 degrees with some moderate winds around 11 mph.
"At least through the next week we're expecting dry conditions," said Andy Gorelow, a National Weather Service meteorologist. "Temperatures will generally range right around 60 and by the beginning of next week we're definitely going to start warming up.
"Sunday through Wednesday we're expecting highs to jump up into the mid-60s."
The temperatures will reach as high as 65 degrees on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
An area of high pressure settling over the area is responsible for the unseasonably mild temps.
The warm-up should be a pleasant surprise for residents as November was the sixth coldest on record based on the average mean temperature.
Records in this area began to be recorded in 1949.
