BUSINESS: Fitness Director for Fitness for $10

AGE: 56

BACKGROUND: “I started in fitness as a gymnast in high school. I’ve always worked out and have worked as a fitness instructor over the years. I work now as an employee of Peak Performance and serve in the capacity of director for Fitness for $10.”

FIRST JOB: “I worked three jobs in high school. I babysat, worked for a printing company and as a laundromat attendant.”

YEARS IN BUSINESS: “I have lived in Pahrump for four years. I owned my own insurance company in California before I came here. I went to work for Peak Performance in May, but volunteered my time working with the elderly, holding free fitness classes in Honeysuckle Park. After three years, I gave it up. I am a certified yoga instructor as well.”

PERSONAL: “I ran a marathon in 2011. I love to hike in Red Rock Canyon. I know it’s an old adage, but it’s true what they say about if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. I do what I love.”

BUSINESS CLIMATE: “I think business is good anywhere you go. Pahrump needs every kind of service, just like other places. I’m not in business for myself, but I did look into it. It seems simple enough. I’ve built a following for my personal training and fitness classes. The key is marketing. I shop locally and eat in local restaurants that are not part of a chain. Use what is available here.”
