Trojans Coach Ed Kirkwood was disappointed his team had to face their top rival during spring break, but it worked out for the boys. Kirkwood called it. He said on paper that his boys “would be close.” It was — and the Trojans squeaked by the Faith Lutheran Crusaders on their home turf 74-71 on Wednesday afternoon.
Trojans baseball, since the one defeat to Faith Lutheran, keeps piling on the victories. On Wednesday afternoon they took it to Cheyenne and beat them 8-1 on the road.
On paper the two teams were even, both teams had lost to Cheyenne and Faith Lutheran and both teams had beaten Western and Clark, but that is where the similarities stopped. Pahrump proved this by beating the Mojave Rattlers at the plate 12-3.
The stage is set and the bus is packed and ready to go. Today the Pahrump Valley Trojans track team runs against the Faith Lutheran Crusaders. It’s in the middle of the spring break for the Trojans and they are taking their undefeated record and going up against the undefeated Faith Lutheran Crusaders, who are not on spring break.
The golf season is winding down and Trojans Coach Bob Hopkins wants his team to focus on its short game. In his philosophy of golf, that is how matches are won. At the moment his team has a good enough average to qualify as a team for the Southern Nevada Regional.
Mondays are usually a tough day for most, but the Trojans baseball team worked through it and came home with a win. Pahrump went up against the Mojave Rattlers on Monday and beat them 5-4.
Since Hornets Coach Jerry Adcox has been at Beatty, the Hornets track has had a tradition of hard running long distance runners. This tradition propelled the girls team to a state championship last year.
Zoe Bertz was at Mountain Falls for the Pahrump Invitational. She was not a spectator, but a player.
The speedway has had a great showing for cancer these past two years raising thousands of dollars and attracting old and new race fans to the track for a good cause.
