Residents of Tonopah, Goldfield and Round Mountain were still digging out earlier this week from a winter storm that dumped heavy snow in the region, making for a white Christmas.

TONOPAH — A pickup truck and an SUV collided head-on Wednesday on U.S. Highway 95 south of Tonopah in Esmeralda County, killing three, including a former Nye County deputy sheriff, and injuring three others, authorities said.
