Food fights results in arrest

Jerry Wayne Williams was jailed on May 18 and faces preliminary charges of domestic battery and assault with a deadly weapon after deputies with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible domestic battery at a residence on Navajo Way in Amargosa Valley.

Deputies met with the alleged victim who reportedly told deputies that the aggressor, subsequently identified as Williams, had thrown a bag of potatoes and a knife at her. The victim said the bag of potatoes allegedly hit her but the knife missed.

When deputies spoke with Williams, he reportedly admitted to throwing the knife and the potatoes. Williams explained the knife was being used to peel the potatoes.

Williams was placed under arrest, transported to the Nye County Detention Center, booked and held on $8,000 bond.
