Nye County approves pact with employee group

The Nye County Commission on Tuesday voted 5-0 to adopt its agreement with the Nye County Employee Association. The agreement runs from July 1 of this year through June 30, 2020.

It includes no financial impact to the county such as pay raises, officials said.

No one spoke on behalf or against the agreement during a public hearing before the commission.

The county and association “have entered into this agreement as an instrument and means of maintaining the existing harmonious relationship between the county and its employees and with the intention and desire to foster and promote the responsibility of sound, stable, and peaceful labor relations between the county and its employees,” documents state.

Afterward, Commissioner Lorinda Wichman said this will mark the fourth or fifth year in a row that employees have helped the county with its budgets.

Those excluded from the bargaining unit include part-time employees working less than 20 hours per week, seasonal employees and temporary employees.
