If you are a baseball card collector, I am sure you are wondering where the hobby trend is going.

If fan energy was a necessary component to win a game, the Lady Trojans team could blame their 35-25 loss to the Bulldogs on Dec. 29 on their fans for not showing up.

The road to state ended for one Nye County team. The Lady Trojans, the Sunset League champions and no. 1 seed, fell to second-seed Boulder City of the Sunrise League in five sets, 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 23-25 and 15-11 at the 3A Southern Region playoffs in Boulder City.

Once again Beatty and Tonopah find themselves locked in battle in the 1A Southern League playoffs. The victor will go on to vie for the regional title and move on to state.

I rarely get riled up over sports. OK, I lied, but that happens mostly with NFL football and college football. For high school, I think I control myself well (My wife is snickering somewhere).

Beatty football went head-to-head against one of the best eight-man football teams in the country last week and found out why Pahranagat Valley (9-0 overall, 7-0 1A Southern) is ranked eighth in the nation according to a MaxPreps poll.

Trojans golfers, junior Austen Ancell and senior Derek Moore, delivered a one-two punch against Boulder City at Mountain Falls Golf Course (par 72) on Monday for the win. Ancell carded a 3-over-par 75 and Moore carded a 77 to lead Pahrump.

Senior Lauren Koenig and sophomore Evandy Murphy both went 4-5 on Monday to help the Trojans overpower Mojave 13-3.

The Pahrump Valley Speedway has had some cosmetic improvements made to it this year, but there also have been some other improvements made that affected the quality of racing.
