Fate was not kind to Pahrump Valley High School golfer Austen Ancell, as he failed to win his second state title at Spring Creek Golf Course in Elko.

The Lady Muckers won the Class 1A Southern Nevada Regional Meet at Moapa Valley High School in Overton on May 12-13, scoring 240 points.

Austen Ancell, the lead golfer for the Trojans, avoided disaster on the first day of the Class 3A Nevada State Golf Tournament and remained just two strokes behind the leader, Daniel Mahlke (75) of Spring Creek at the start of the second day.

The Trojans baseball team fell short of state in the second game played at Southeast Career Technical Academy on Friday against the Boulder City Eagles, losing 19-3.

The Lady Trojans played Moapa Valley twice on Saturday at Southeast Career Technical Academy on Saturday.

The Trojans boys jumpers’ surprise performance won the regional title for the boys. The team took first place at the Class 3A Southern Regional Meet on Saturday with 119 points, beating Mojave by 20 points and is heading to state on May 19-20.

Lake Spring Mountain, which is part of the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club, will open its doors for the season this weekend.

The Trojans baseball team had some playoff jitters its first game, losing to Virgin Valley 3-2 on Tuesday at home, but then settled down in the second game against Desert Pines on Wednesday, beating the Jaguars 8-5.

Trojans softball had already won the league championship going into the game, for Mojave already had lost two games, but since it was the last league game it was fitting that the girls celebrate after beating the second-place team on May 4, 10-0.
