The Trojans girls volleyball team was at the Las Vegas Invitational, a high-quality tournament that sees some of the top volleyball teams in Nevada and California perform. Pahrump won one and lost five matches. Two of those teams ended up being in the top three at the tournament, Ramona and Central. Ramona won the tournament.

The curse of the Chicaco Cubs

I was walking past Petco Park today and saw hordes of Cubbies fans approaching for the afternoon game with the Padres, (the Cubs won 6-3, sweeping the series) and I started thinking about the Cubs’ chances of winning the pennant and overcoming the dreaded Billy Goat Curse.

Commentary: Ed, he’s just a personable guy

He is one of the most personable guys I know. Over the past six years it has been hard to find a day where I haven’t talked to Ed Kirkwood. For those who haven’t met Ed, he is the Trojans athletic director and he is leaving for Florida today.

Roughly five months after the Pahrump United-U10 soccer girls claimed a historic Western States Tournament title, Pahrump’s AYSO program is observing another milestone.

Cross-country girls ready for first meet Tuesday

The Trojans girls cross-country team is ready to run. Their first meet will be on Aug. 30 against Sunrise Mountain in Las Vegas at 4:30 p.m.

Trojans AD Kirkwood headed for sunny Florida

After six years with the Trojans, Ed Kirkwood is saying farewell and headed for greener pastures. Kirkwood’s last day as Trojans athletic director will be on Friday. He has not only has been the athletic director for the past two seasons, but has also coached many athletes over his time.

Vegas to Reno has new champion

Off-road racer Andy McMillin hadn’t gotten a win all year in the Best in the Desert series. Last Saturday he changed that by beating three-time consecutive winner Jason Voss in this year’s General Tire Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno Race.
