Trojans Wrestling: Eight veterans of state tourney return to team

Last year was a great year for the Trojans wrestling team, for they sent 11 wrestlers to the state tourney. Most of those wrestlers will be returning this year and so the Trojans are looking forward to a promising year.

Community Christmas tree is ready for decorations

The community is invited to come out and decorate its Christmas tree Saturday, Nov. 29 starting at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of the Pahrump Nugget Hotel and Casino. Later, at 6 p.m., everyone is invited to watch the lighting of the tree. The weather prediction calls for high of 72 and low of 45 and mostly sunny.

Ageless racer keeps going at Pahrump Valley Speedway

Many senior citizens in Pahrump are chastised for their slow driving in the valley. Russ Wilson is 86 and definitely not one of those drivers. Wilson races at the Pahrump Valley Speedway and is the oldest driver on the track at 86 years old.

The 2014 World Powerlifting Championships were held on Nov. 23 at Ballys in Las Vegas. The meet attracted 619 lifters from all over the world.

County to consider protest of BLM actions, block grants

TONOPAH — Nye County Commissioners will vote on a resolution asking U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Nev., to hold hearings concerning actions of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management that are detrimental to the livestock industry and the economy of Nevada during a meeting at 10 a.m. in Tonopah on Tuesday.

Medical pot applicants restart county process

The Nye County Water District board will review water impact plans by three medical marijuana applicants during a 9 a.m. meeting Monday. One applicant is already scheduled for a hearing on a medical marijuana license before the Nye County Commissioners the next day at 10 a.m.

Hansen seeks to limit BLM, Forest Service police powers
