It took me days to name my children. People would harass me in the hospital, noting I would not be allowed to leave until the Social Security forms were completed with the baby’s full name entered in the appropriate spaces. However, I took the naming part of my job as a new parent very seriously. I refused to be bullied into making the wrong decision.

This week’s Clean Energy Summit 6.0 was Sen. Harry Reid’s green party, of that there can be no doubt.

I drive around this valley and I often think to myself, what a pretty place.

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama’s increasingly grandiose claims for presidential power are inversely proportional to his shriveling presidency. Desperation fuels arrogance as, barely 200 days into the 1,462 days of his second term, his pantry of excuses for failure is bare, his domestic agenda is nonexistent and his foreign policy of empty rhetorical deadlines and redlines is floundering. And at last week’s news conference he offered inconvenience as a justification for illegality.

I can’t get over why citizens continue to send representatives, who have created the mess we have, back to Washington.

Recently one of my colleagues at our newspaper wrote a piece about the efforts of some Nevada beekeepers who are attempting to deal with neonicotinoid insecticides as a possible cause of honey bee colony collapse. The article had nothing to do with the University of Nevada, Reno, but one reader took the opportunity to post a comment about the campus:

It’s not just wishy-washy Gumby Republicans who need to beware this upcoming election cycle. Even Republicans with generally conservative voting records — but have otherwise been AWOL on the frontlines of the battlefield — have political targets on their backs.

Our Lady of the Valley’s youth group, “LOL,” went to San Diego “Steubenville” for a youth conference. LOL attended a three-day youth conference, followed by two days at Campland on the Bay.
