There won’t be an election for the Pahrump Town Board. Candidates in races with a political party are listed as (R) Republican (D) Democrat or (IAP) for Independent American Party, otherwise it is a non-partisan race. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order.
All countywide elected officials are running for office this year and two county commissioners, with a big field of candidates running for Nye County assessor and District 5 county commissioner.
Nye County commissioners Frank Carbone and Donna Cox voted against applying for a 2015 Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant to fund two narcotics detectives, a part-time office assistant and drug-buying money.
The Pahrump Regional Planning Commission last week recommended county commissioners pass a bill granting alternatives to paving parking lots and eliminating the separation requirements between residences and accessory buildings, but they wouldn’t vote on a bill exempting conditional use permits for hotels.
