It has been a while since Beatty was in the playoffs in football. It was 1996. That was before many of the team members were even born. This year the six seniors on the team will be playing in their first playoff game in a Beatty football uniform. It could be their last game ever in a Beatty football uniform, but they are ready to play and prove to people that they can play football. The seniors are: Luis Flores, Jacob Handy, Zain Hammit, Brandon Cross, Waylon Lucas and Lorenzo Pinon.
If you have ever watched the Lady Trojans play their rival, Faith Lutheran in soccer you would know that this game brings out a lot of emotions on both sides and both teams play above and beyond their capabilities. It is truly regarded to be one of the best rivalries in high school soccer, with both teams having their share of upsets over each other.
Ask anyone last year about this time if they thought Beatty would make the playoffs in football this year and they would probably laugh you out of the room, but this year they are in the playoffs.
It was a battle for second place in the Southern Nevada Division IV volleyball last Friday at Sandy Valley. Beatty was hoping to pull off an upset to get the bye in the playoffs, but it wasn’t to be.
Cross country had the division finals last week and the boys and girls both finished in third to Faith Lutheran and Clark. Both teams did their best said Trojans Coach Matt Kolocdzieczyk.
All doubts that the girls had lost their ability to score were out the window last Tuesday as the Lady Trojans traveled to Cheyenne and beat them 6-0. Sydney Dennis led Pahrump (11-6-0, 8-5-0) against the Desert Shields (5-9-1, 4-9-1) with two goals. The Trojans scored three in the first half and three in the second half.
Junior Kellie Hunn from Pahrump just started golfing last year and she never thought she would go to state this year, but she made it along with her teammate, Sophomore Riley Moore.
Beatty: Melynda Gross, a former state champion for Beatty High School is asking for help for her brother, who was in a tragic car accident that took his wife and left him in the hospital. The accident was in July.
Beatty’s consistent play against Indian Springs last week gave the girls volleyball team the victory 23-25, 25-21,24-26, 25-15 and 15-13. The Hornets (9-2 overall, 7-2 Division IV Southern) moved into third place after beating the Thunderbirds (8-4, 6-3) last Friday and Adelson School on Tuesday, 25-11, 21-25, 25-14 and 25-14.
