Trojans grapplers went to one of the toughest duals of the year at Spring Valley on Saturday. Although they didn’t win a match, going 0-4, the team showed some promise.

Sydney Sladek — The University of Southern California Trojans won the NCAA national title and the team has a Pahrump connection. Sydney Sladek plays as a starting midfielder for USC and she was on the Pahrump Lady Trojans soccer team. Her team just beat West Virginia on Sunday 3-1 for the national title. She is a 2013 graduate of Pahrump and was on the 2011 and 2012 state championship soccer teams and was also a two-time state champion in the 800-meter run.

The Lady Trojans went down to play four games last week at the River Valley Tournament in Mohave, Arizona, going 2-2 and then went to Durango on Tuesday and won 43-24.
