The first week of the prep football season was considered a success. But eight games were canceled by causes related to the COVID pandemic, player eligibility and wildfires.

Football has basically come to an end in high school with just the 4A state title to be decided on Dec. 3 at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Sunset League volleyball coaches honored Trojans longtime head volleyball Jill Harris and named her Sunset League coach of the year for this year’s playoff appearances and won the league with a 10-0 Sunset League record and a 23-14 record overall.

Eight-time state champion McKenzie Dean has returned to Pahrump to teach at Rosemary Clarke Middle School and will be the head Trojans track coach this spring.
Once again the Beatty Hornets were the last standing of all the Nye County volleyball teams in the post season. The Hornets went to state for their third appearance in three years, losing to Owyhee in four sets, 25-11, 25-20, 18-25 and 25-21.
BEATTY — The show must go on as they say in show business. The Beatty VFW Turkey Shoot went down as scheduled despite the town mourning the loss of Robert Revert, a former county commissioner and town resident for more than half a century.
Calling all shooters. The Beatty Veterans of Foreign Wars wants you to come out to the shooting range off of Highway 374 near Airport Road on November 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cyclocross is coming to Beatty on November 27 at Spicer Ranch for the Nevada Cyclocross State Championship.
This Veterans Day tribute is to honor six soldiers from the 2014 wrestling team that went into the service after graduating. Many students from PVHS have joined the military in the past few years and I am sorry we can’t recognize them all. This was coordinated with Trojans wrestling coach Craig Rieger and Peter Davis, who took the photos. If we missed somebody from the team that year we are sorry.
There are people that have a talent at a young age but never do anything to develop.
