The Lady Hornets are back into their winning ways as last week they traveled to Beaver Dam and won in overtime 44-42. According to Hornets Coach Aimee Senior, Beatty (5-2 overall, 3-2 Division IV Southern) came back from a 12-point deficit in the second half for the win. In the first half, the Diamondbacks (4-3, 2-3) put on a full-court press which gave them a 12-point lead.
As a sophomore, Jill Smith is making a difference on three teams for Pahrump Valley High School. Smith is a highly focused athlete for her age and is in her second year as a varsity player for volleyball, basketball and softball.
The Trojans boys basketball team went up against the number one team in the Sunset League, Faith Lutheran and lost 68-39. Although it was a loss, the Trojans (0-11 overall, 0-8 Sunset League) have made some progress on the court.
The Trojans wrestlers traveled to Mojave last Wednesday and soundly beat the Rattlers 67-6.
The Lady Hornets lost two close games over the weekend to Sandy Valley on Friday, 38-29 and Round Mountain on Saturday, 40-35.
This week the Lady Trojans will have faced two of the top teams in the Sunset League, Spring Valley and Faith Lutheran. Spring Valley came to town on Wednesday and their defense was too much for the Trojans (2-12 overall, 0-7 Sunset League), who lost 56-38.
A major change is coming to Pahrump high school baseball. After years of playing American Legion summer ball, this summer the high school is dropping American Legion and moving to the Connie Mack league. American Legion ball can be traced back to the year 2000 in the valley and maybe further.
The Trojans boys basketball team ran into a solid Mojave team on Friday and lost 63-30. The Trojans (0-9 overall, 0-6 Sunset League) couldn’t stop the Rattlers’ (9-6, 4-1) Chrishawn Thomas from scoring 23 points in front of a home crowd.
