Wrestling: Trojans crush Cheyenne

The Trojans were at home against Cheyenne and won easily 57-22. The team is currently undefeated in league at 3-0. Trojans Coach Craig Rieger said prior to the match that he never overlooks an opponent and that he was afraid that some of his wrestlers would be rusty because they missed some or all of the practices over the holiday.

Junior Trojans wrestling takes second place overall at home

On Saturday the Junior Trojans had a home wrestling tournament at Pahrump Valley High School. The Premier Division took second place and the Rookie Division took first place.

Lady Trojans looking for first league win

The Lady Trojans will be at Western on Thursday at 5 p.m. The team (1-7 overall, 0-2 Sunset League) had a chance to start the new year off with two wins this week. They played Cheyenne (4-6, 2-1) at home on Tuesday night, but that game was past deadline.

The Pahrump Valley 500 Club, a bowling club at the Pahrump Valley Nugget, donated $345 to the Nye County Animal Shelter on Dec. 13.

Two strong friends in faith from Pahrump, Bill Lewis and Arika Ostr0m, will be cycling through the four corners of the United States starting on Jan. 1. The trip should last a year.

A family that runs together stays together

Desiree Veloz started running four years ago. For her, running was a challenge. Veloz is a teacher on assignment for the School District. She needed a physical activity that would keep her from falling back into the world of anorexia. Running has done just that and more. In October she ran her first marathon.
