With most of last season’s roster returning and a full 18-game schedule on the horizon, the Trojans used last week’s summer camp to sharpen their skills and continue building a stronger program.
The Trojans boys basketball team ran into a solid Mojave team on Friday and lost 63-30. The Trojans (0-9 overall, 0-6 Sunset League) couldn’t stop the Rattlers’ (9-6, 4-1) Chrishawn Thomas from scoring 23 points in front of a home crowd.
The Trojans wrestling team came home from the Spring Creek Kiwanis Invitational, a 29-school tournament in Northern Nevada, with a second place. Last year’s state championship team was first with 224 points, Pahrump was second with 194 points and Caldwell was third with 171.5 points.
It was all Trojans on Tuesday night as the wrestling team dominated on the mat against Faith Lutheran in Sunset League action at home, beating the Crusaders 60-20.
At the home basketball games and the football games you always see the dance team performing, and yes they do other things. One of those things they do is enter competitions.

For the Lady Trojans things got ugly quick and the ugliness never stopped. Pahrump (2-10 overall, 0-5 Sunset League) lost 67-21 for their fifth league loss.
With January, comes the bowl games, the NFL playoffs and Super Bowl. Did you know there were 38 bowl games? It’s just a lot of football and so football is on my mind.
The Lady Trojans were left stunned at the end of their game with Western as they lost the in last second of the game. The team lost 43-42 at Western on Thursday.
On Saturday the Lady Hornets destroyed the Thunderbirds 52-19 at home. Beatty (4-0 overall, 2-0 Division IV Southern) outscored Indian Springs (0-11, 0-2) in the first half 30-12.
The Pahrump Valley 500 Club, a bowling club at the Pahrump Valley Nugget, donated $345 to the Nye County Animal Shelter on Dec. 13.
