After seven years, the Special Olympic Torch run returns to Nye County. According to the Special Olympics Nevada, the state has summer games each year in Reno and each year Nevada law enforcement agencies are guardians of the torch, known as the “Flame of Hope.” The law enforcement agencies also help raise money for Special Olympics.
Beatty track was at the White Pine Invitational last weekend. This was the second to last meet before the regional meet.
Tonopah — All year the Tonopah fans have been waiting for this game. The fans knew all the other games were meaningless unless the team could beat Pahranagat Valley. All the games were practice for this one series with Pahranagat Valley, the current state champion.
The Mojave Rattlers came to Pahrump for the final game of the regular season. Pahrump, at 7-2 with their only losses to Faith Lutheran, secured second place and beat Mojave 7-3 to improve to 8-2.
The Mojave Rattlers came to town looking to be a spoiler. The Rattlers had no chance of gaining any ground on Pahrump, but they could decide if the Trojans finished second or third. They did by winning 11-9.
The Trojans end a long road trip with a loss and fall to Faith Lutheran 10-4 on Monday.
The Trojans men’s team won the division title against Western last Wednesday, beating them soundly 85-50 at Boulder City.
On Monday, the Faith Lutheran Crusaders golf team shot a 394 for a first place finish in the Sunset League match at Canyon Gate with Pahrump coming in second with a 455.
The Beatty Hornets honored their seniors last week on April 29 against Adelson. There were three seniors, Jake Zamora, Carlos Perez and Freddie Constanzo.
