A home run from Madison Rodriguez (6) wasn’t enough for the Pahrump Valley softball team to beat the Sports Leadership & Management (SLAM) Bulls in a conference game on Wednesday.

SOFTBALL: Trojans top Moapa, fall to Needles

The Trojans softball team suffered their first loss this season against a school from a neighboring state on Monday, but it also added a win in a weekend game against Moapa Valley (2-1) at home.

Muckers baseball off to 1-3 start this season

By the end of the weekend, the Tonopah Muckers had played four games, where they scored over 17 runs.

Lady Trojans have something to prove

With a significant portion of the Trojans offense gone, the Trojans are expecting the defense to step up this season. Sydney Sladek was the lead scorer last season with 75 goals and that amounted to 53 percent of the offense. The next best scorer the Trojans had was Paige Chafee, who is a junior and had 12 goals. She is returning. The Trojans hope to replace the talent lost with new talent coming in, but until that new talent has a chance to adjust to new teammates, the veterans on defense will be the glue that holds the team together.

Wanted: Football field with grass

The Beatty High School football field is often referred to as the “cursed field” because of the past difficulties to get grass to grow on it. During the spring months the field was reseeded once again.

Three new athletic directors to take over this fall

Three high schools in the Nye County School District have new athletic directors. The schools receiving new athletic directors are Tonopah, Pahrump and Beatty High Schools.

So long to ‘an old-school photographer’

This week the sports page is dedicated to award winning photographer Horace Langford Jr. At the Pahrump Valley Times this is an end of an era as the newspaper says goodbye to Horace after almost 14 years. This Week in Sports was started because Horace shot so many great photos and the paper wanted a place to put them.

Team captain believes team headed in right direction

Adrian Maldonado is one of two team captains for the Pahrump Valley Trojans soccer team. He is excited to start the season, which will be his last year.

Pahrump Valley 12-14 all-star team plays well at Carson tourney

John Walker took his 12-14 year old Little League all-star team to Carson City. It was the first time the Pahrump Little League had sent a team to the state tourney. The team went 1-3.

Pahrump club soccer girls experience nationals

The Players SC 96 Elite under 18 club team out of Las Vegas traveled to Germantown, Maryland for the National Championships. The team represented Nevada and traveled with six Pahrump girls. The team was coached by Joe Sladek and was in a tournament with the top eight club soccer teams in the nation.

Trojan volleyball prepares for upcoming season

Trojans Coach Jill Harris just concluded a successful minicamp, where Robyn Felder, the head volleyball coach from Dixie State, came down to instruct the girls for three days. Felder brought with her Hannah Harrah, a current Dixie State player who is an outside hitter.
