OVERTON—The Lady Trojans had an off game and that can’t happen in the playoffs. Moapa Valley ran away with the game, winning the Class 3A quarterfinal playoff game 42-24 on Wednesday night.

Jacob Oseguera scored 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Hornets past Word of Life, 57-51, on Wednesday in Beatty.

Senior Lexi Gil’s 28 points helped the Lady Hornets easily defeat Word of Life, 65-28, in the Class 1A Southern Region quarterfinal game on Wednesday at Beatty.

A look at the future: During the quarterfinal playoff game between the Lady Trojans and Moapa Valley on Wednesday night, Trojans coach Bob Hopkins found his team too far behind in points (they lost 42-24) and so he played as many junior varsity players as he could.

The Trojans grapplers got one medal winner out of the seven that were sent to state in Reno on Feb. 10-11, and finished 13th out of 18 schools with 10 points.

In basketball, momentum can change at the drop of a hat and only needs a catalyst.

Knights player Alyssa Hanks led Round Mountain past Beatty, recording a double-double and scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds on Friday night. With the disappointing 47-29 loss, the Lady Hornets lost their bid for the second-place seed in the playoffs.

Special Olympics is looking for a friendly bocce ball coach for the upcoming season, which starts on March 2 through April 27.

The Lady Trojans played one of the toughest teams in the Sunset League, Cheyenne, on Tuesday and although they lost 46-36 they played one of their best games of the season.

The Trojans will send seven wrestlers to the Class 3A state championships in Reno starting on Friday. The wrestlers are sophomore Isaak Cruz (120 pounds), fourth place seed; sophomore Kyler Adams (126), fifth-place seed; sophomore Dylan Grossell (132), third-place seed; junior David Diaz (145), fifth-place seed; junior Dustin Rily (152), second-place seed; junior Jeremy Albertson (195), third-place seed; junior Cole Walker (195), fourth-place seed.
