HEE: Is pushing kids to the limit for a sport a bad thing

My first impression of the show were kids 9-10 years old bear-crawling on a football field until they vomited and I thought, that is really horrible. I was appalled and asked myself, how can coaches do that to kids?

On Saturday, Rod Poteete, a former Pahrump Valley High School teacher and coach, received one of the highest honors that a school can bestow on a former teacher. The high school dedicated the baseball field in his name.

Trojans track runs against bigger schools at Liberty invite

Trojans boys and girls track ran in the Liberty Invitational on Saturday in Las Vegas. There were 15 boys teams and 13 girls teams. The invitational allowed the team to run against some of the best Division I teams in Las Vegas.

The Lady Trojans out-hit and out-pitched visiting Clark on Thursday in a 14-3 rout.

Nye County Sheriff’s team returns to race

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office fielded a team in the annual Baker to Vegas run for the first time since 2013. On Saturday, about 8,000 law enforcement and support personnel involved with the race ran through Pahrump without any major incidents.

Trojans go 1-1 in last two games; lose to Clark

The Trojans finished off the week by going 1-1. On Thursday they played their first home game and got pummeled by (Clark 4-3 overall, 1-1 Sunset League) in conference play 13-2, and then on Saturday they beat a Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado team 11-7.

Boys and girls track relying on distance running for points

The Pahrump Valley boys track team is tearing things up in long-distance running. The Trojans went to Del Sol in Las Vegas on Tuesday to compete against four Division I-A teams. Pahrump finished second (106), Del Sol was first (117.5), Chaparral was third (95) and Spring Valley was fourth (55.5).
