Joe Serrano, last year’s Beatty boys basketball coach, won’t be returning this season. Steve Sullivan, former girls basketball coach and volleyball coach, will be the new head coach. Beatty Athletic Director Bryson Moore said Serrano is moving on to better things. Under Serrano the team was 4-10 overall.
The PVTBC will hold a Certified Snakebite/10 Pin/No Tap Singles Turkey Shoot Tournament, with handicap, on Nov. 22 at the Pahrump Nugget. This tournament will be sponsored by Nevada Treasure RV Resort.
Basketball teams need height and a little bit of speed. This year the Lady Trojans might have a bit of both.
Who is Kyle Heckman? Ask around the track and really nobody knows. Even the owner of the track, Chad Broadhead had to be reminded who he was. Heckman was the man who returned to the Pahrump Valley Speedway to win another $1,500 purse at the second annual After the Duel last Saturday. Heckman also won the Sam Stringer Memorial this year in July.
The Badwater race returns to Death Valley National Park in 2015, but with restrictions. The biggest change will be when the race will be allowed to be held. It will no longer be during the heat of the day, but at night.
