Broadhead to start new race, Day after the Duel on Nov. 10

The racing season is over as far as points, but track promoter and owner Chad Broadhead wants to introduce a new race and it’s for the money. The Pahrump Valley Speedway will be hosting “Day after the Duel” on Nov. 10 starting at 3 p.m.

PVHS finishes in sixth place at regional meet

The Division I-A Southern Regional Meet was held last week at the Veterans Memorial park in Boulder City and the results were disappointing to Trojans fans. The team failed to make state.

Trojans coach plans on staying for awhile

Men’s soccer has returned to Pahrump as a team to be reckoned with and it all started with first year coach, Don Boulden. The Trojans may not be headed out to the playoffs this year, but they can go out with their heads held high and say they gave it their best shot.

Panthers defense limits Muckers to two TDs

The Tonopah Muckers football team played the Pahranagat Valley Panthers and could not end their winning streak of 65 games and became the 66th. The Panthers not only have an unbelievable winning streak, but they also have 5 consecutive state titles in a row.

Melendez wants to join navy, determined to make weight restrictions

Maria Melendez could probably get into any university in Nevada or most in the country. Her 4.0 GPA and her work ethic are traits most colleges would be proud to have. Instead, she is chasing after her dream she has wanted since she was eight years old and that is to join the armed forces of the United States.

Hornets triumph over Sidewinders 3-2

The Beatty Hornets will be playing in the playoffs again this year. The team solidified its fourth place standing last week with a win over the Sandy Valley Sidewinders, 3-2. With the victory, the Hornets improve to 4-3.

Muckers must get through Panthers to repeat state title

The Lady Muckers volleyball team beat Indian Springs in three straight, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-18. Tonopah now is preparing for the toughest foe of the season, the Pahranagat Valley Panthers, led by Panthers Coach Ginger Whipple.

The Muckers fail to regroup in fourth quarter

The Tonopah Muckers football team had too many problems with Indian Springs and lost 35-20. The Muckers have one game remaining and are 4-1 in league play.
