County finally adopts master plan update

Local post office sees busiest day

A line of customers goes out the door Monday at the Pahrump Post Office, 2300 Postal Drive. Monday was the U.S. Postal Service’s busiest day, with nearly 5,000 packages mailed in Pahrump alone. The service is expecting to ship 470 million packages nationwide this holiday season, a 12 percent increase from last year.

Two-car collision careens into a third

Two people were transported to Desert View Hospital with non-life threatening injuries following a three-vehicle accident along State Route 160 and Mesquite Avenue, late Tuesday morning. Officials on scene said the driver of a yellow Buick Wildcat traveling on East Mesquite failed to yield to the stop sign and broadsided a green Ford Mustang southbound on State Route 160. Both cars collided with a pickup truck waiting at the stop sign. Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Commissioners change zoning despite protests from area residents

Nye County commissioners voted Tuesday to rezone approximately 172 acres on Thousandaire Boulevard from specific plan to light industrial zoning following a well attended and contentious public hearing.
