Plans for wrestling program to return to Beatty next year

Maxwell Smart from the hit 70s show “Get Smart” used to say, “Missed me by that much.” Well that was how close Beatty was to getting a new wrestling program and coach. All the Hornets needed was someone to come forward and direct the team according to Beatty Athletic Director Bryson Moore.

School board allocates $70,000 to reseed Beatty football field

The Beatty football field was a hot topic of discussion at the Nye County School School Board meeting, which was held at Beatty High School on Tuesday night.

Defending state champion Clark rolled into town like a big storm. Local fans just had to wait to see how much damage would be done. That was the way Trojans Coach John Toomer saw it. He just didn’t know what the damage was going to be. Clark (4-1 overall, 1-0 Sunset League) won big, 73-29.

Head of NIAA will leave Nevada for new position

Ed Bonine will be leaving the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association after eight years as director. According to the NIAA, Bonine has been offered a position with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. The NIAA will start the process of filling the position on January 14 and 15, which is the regular winter meeting.

Trojans boys basketball drops season opener

The Trojans played their first basketball game at Sunrise Mountain on Tuesday night and lost 69-39. Pahrump (0-1 overall) failed to keep it close in the first quarter with the Miners (1-1 overall) scoring 21 points in the first to the Trojans’ 13. At the half the Miners led 32-17.
