The Trojans men’s basketball team traveled up to Hawthorne for a Central Nevada tournament where they played five games in span of three days. The team won two games and lost three. Trojans Coach John Toomer is slowly rebuilding the team and working on the team’s confidence.
The Pahrump Valley Junior Trojans Wrestling team was at the Rattler Roundup on Dec. 14 at Mojave High School and took third place overall. The competition was stiff with close to 445 wrestlers there.
Playing Division-1 schools is always hard in basketball for the Trojans. Last Monday’s game against Rancho High School wasn’t any different.
Robert Otteson is the commissioner of officials for Central Nevada, a newly formed association. He is also a volleyball official. He said during the November month of playoffs some Tonopah officials had the honor of officiating the high stake games.

The Trojans are coming off several wins at the Lake Mead Holiday Classic in Las Vegas where the team posted 4 wins and a loss in the two-day event over the weekend.
The Tonopah Muckers men’s basketball team played well at the Wells Rural Electric Tournament last weekend. Joe Westerlund’s team came up with the first win of the season during the first game of the tournament. The squad defeated their opponent Carlin by a score of 44-28.
The Beatty Hornets women’s basketball team saw its first action over the past weekend at the Lake Mead Classic basketball tourney in Las Vegas, where they went 1-2.
The wrestling program has been strengthened after last year’s mishap, when the team was temporarily dismantled and the program was suspended. Nye County Schools Superintendent Dale Norton listened to the coaches and gave the program a last-minute reprieve.
The Pahrump Valley Trojans wrestling team received its first test of the season at the Boulder City Duals on Saturday and wrestled four teams. The team went 3-1 losing only to the powerful Division-1 Foothill squad.
