Criticizing officials who work high school games is not something I enjoy doing. They’re not making a fortune, they put up with a lot, and you really have to love doing it to devote so much time and energy to it. And in most sports there is a shortage of them. So criticizing them is usually inappropriate.

NHP provides update on Nye bus crash investigation

The Nevada Highway Patrol released new findings on the Sept. 5 crash involving a school bus carrying the Pahrump Valley High School junior varsity football team, a nighttime Highway 160 construction zone wreck that injured at least four on the bus.

Desert Pines squeaks by the Trojans

This year the Desert Pines Jaguars came to Pahrump and prevailed, barely. The score hardly reflects the near miss the Jaguars experienced, 41-27. The game was so close, the victorious coach of the Jaguars hastily left the stadium without making any remarks.

PV Invitational volleyball tourney attracts 16 teams

The annual Pahrump Valley Volleyball Invitational was held at Pahrump Valley High School on Saturday and attracted 16 teams from all over Southern Nevada for play.

Beatty has early success at PVVI Tourney

Beatty traveled to Pahrump for the Pahrump Valley Volleyball Invitational on Saturday to try out a not-so-new coach and a new team. Dale Lerbakken is the new Beatty volleyball coach this year, but has coached the team for two years prior to Steve Sullivan. Lerbakken was excited and said he would coach the team as long as they need him. He is the music teacher from K-12 and handles the Beatty High School band.

Muckers flatten Lone Pine

The Tonopah Muckers football team moved to 1-1 as they pummeled Lone Pine 65-46 at home. The Muckers lead running back, Matt Misener, ran for 195 yards on 10 carries and three touchdowns.

The Tonopah Muckers are one of the best teams in Nye County and they proved it by beating most of the teams at the Pahrump Valley Volleyball Invitational on Saturday.

Lady Muckers V-ball succeeds in Ely

The Lady Muckers volleyball team saw action at a tournament in Ely Friday and Saturday. The team played four games on Friday and three games on Saturday and went 4-3.

Cross Country teams finishes strong first time out

The Trojans girls cross country team ran Saturday in the Labor Day Classic hosted by Palo Verde High School, a Division 1 team. The course was 5,000 meters with 18 teams competing. Trojans Coach Matthew Kolodzieczyk was happy with the results.

Trojans ready to run the ball against Desert Pines

At halftime, the Desert Pines Jaguars had a 41-0 cushion over the Western Warriors. In just one half, the Jags had 280 yards to just 7 of Western. Western only made it into Jag territory two times. Desert had 24 snaps the whole game, but had gained 428 yards. This weekend the same spread offense, which dismantled the Warriors 61-0 is headed to Pahrump.

Trojans score 2 in second half for victory over Aggies

Senior Sydney Sladek has not skipped a beat since scoring over 70 goals last year. The Trojans soccer machine seems to be unstoppable as she scored against the Arbor View Aggies with just three minutes remaining on the clock Tuesday afternoon to put the game on ice, 2-0.
