The team had given up 12 in the two games prior to the Western game on Thursday. They dropped two games in a row to Mojave and Clark. Trojans Coach Don Boulden said after the Clark game the defense was going to have to change and they had one day to do it.
Senior Matt Misener is a running back for the Tonopah Muckers. Misener’s running game has been responsible for breaking a few games wide open. He is 5 feet 9 inches tall and 165 pounds, and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. He is quick and lethal, but most importantly he has heart.
The Tonopah Muckers football team won Friday’s away conference game against Round Mountain by a score of 58-26. With this win, Tonopah improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in league. The offense is averaging 345.6 yards rushing per game, 117 yards passing per game and has a total of 26 TDs.
The Lady Trojans went 2-1 in their last three outings. They beat Mojave last Thursday 3-0, lost to Clark on Monday 3-1 and beat Western on Wednesday 3-1.
Beatty Hornets football team soundly beat Beaver Dam last Friday night 43-36. Hornets Coach Leo Verzilli said his team had a great game.
Trojans cross country lost to Faith Lutheran at Indian Springs some weeks back. Since then the boys and girls seemed to have shrugged off the loss and moved on.
The boys soccer team has dropped their last two games losing to Mojave 7-2 last week and suffering a loss to Clark 5-0 in Tuesday’s game. According to Coach Don Boulden the team has just been outplayed the last two games.
Sydney Sladek broke the Nevada High School Record for “most goals scored, career,” formerly held by Traci Prado at 154. Prado, from North Tahoe, set the record in 2000.
The Lady Trojans stomped another league opponent beating the Clark Chargers on Tuesday 8-1. Sydney Sladek broke the state record for most goals scored in a career at 154. Sladek scored four goals that afternoon and now has 157 goals.
